City Demolishes Blighted Structures for Safer Neighborhoods

Staff Report / Alexandrialocal.org

The City of Alexandria's Planning Division is actively working on its initiative known as Project Fight the Blight. This project aims to demolish and remove abandoned and blighted structures throughout the city. The goal is to reduce crime and fire hazards, thereby making neighborhoods safer for residents.

One example of the project's progress can be seen at 634 Williamson Street. The structure has undergone significant changes, with demolition and removal completed. The City reports that this transformation is part of broader efforts to improve community safety and enhance the overall appearance of the area.

Updates and information about the project can be found on the City's official platforms.
