Fight Mosquitoes: Take Precautions This Fall

Staff Report / FLXlocal.org

Cayuga County Health officials are reminding residents that mosquitoes are still active despite the changing seasons. The New York State Department of Health encourages everyone to continue taking precautions to prevent mosquito bites and the illnesses they can carry.

Residents are advised to avoid outdoor activities during peak mosquito activity times. Wearing EPA-registered insect repellent is recommended when outdoors, and individuals should dress in long-sleeved clothing and long pants to protect their skin. Additionally, it is important to remove any standing water around homes, as this can serve as a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
