Winter Storm Watch Issued for Buffalo Region

The National Weather Service in Buffalo, NY has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the region, effective from Wednesday afternoon through late Thursday night. As of 7:30 PM EST on December 3, 2024, residents can expect a winter system that will bring widespread snow and additional lake effect snow, particularly east of the lakes.
Lake effect snow is already occurring and is expected to continue tonight, moving northward and resulting in minor accumulations by Wednesday morning. The upcoming winter storm will intensify the snowfall, accompanied by very gusty winds, which may lead to blowing and drifting snow as well as snow squalls through Thursday.
Currently, no lake effect snow warnings are in effect, but snow is anticipated to persist in the area throughout the week.
