Students Experiment with Robotics in Hands-On Learning

Staff Report / Alexandrialocal.org

Students at Ruby-Wise Elementary in Alexandria, LA, engaged in a hands-on learning experience in Mrs. Cripps’ Robotics class using VEX Go Kits. The focus was on measuring speed, distance, and ramp height as part of their data collection.

Mrs. Cripps began by instructing students on how to measure and collect the necessary data to understand the mechanics of their Unpowered Super Cars. The students conducted experiments to see how far their cars moved when pushed, improving their skills in accurate data recording and measurement.

Throughout the lesson, the students observed and measured the distances their cars traveled during multiple test runs. They also explored how gravitational force influenced the distance a car could travel when launched from different heights of an inclined plane. This interactive lesson emphasized the importance of data collection, critical thinking skills, and the enjoyment of the learning process.
