San Diego Celebrates Major Expansion And New Venues
San Diego has reached several milestones as the region continues to attract major companies and expand its infrastructure. Beginning in 2027, TED will hold its flagship conference in the city with backing from EDC, Visit San Diego, and the San Diego Convention Center.
San Diego International Airport has begun serving passengers in its new Terminal 1. Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc. recently secured Novartis as a tenant for its megacampus. French medtech company Germitec has established its North American headquarters here.
Local improvements continue as the City of Chula Vista Government opened the Gaylord Pacific Resort and Convention Center to the public. Southwest Airlines is now offering expanded service to destinations such as Maui and Spokane.
Additional enhancements include the unveiling of a $55 million repair facility by GKN Aerospace in the City of El Cajon, and the opening of an 80,000-square-foot facility by Saronic Technologies in Downtown San Diego. Cross Border Xpress also announced plans for a $100 million expansion in the region.
These developments are part of an ongoing effort to boost San Diego's reputation in life sciences, technology, and tourism while improving local infrastructure for residents and visitors.
